November 23, 2024 Kuala Lumpur - Today marks a significant milestone for animal welfare and sustainable agriculture in Malaysia with the official launch of the Malaysia Cage-Free Egg Producer’s Organisation. This pivotal initiative signifies the nation’s commitment to advancing cage-free egg production, aligning with global trends and heightened consumer demand for ethically sourced food products.
A commitment to cage-free initiative with this landmark event, Ladang Ternakan Prudence (LTP) and Hellmann Poultry Equipment signed a Cage-Free Transition Agreement, taking the major step towards fostering cage-free egg production in Malaysia. This historic agreement was witnessed by Dr. Saravanakumar S. Pillai, Senior Adviser for Farm Animal Welfare, Policy, and Engagement at Humane Society International. Dr. Pillai is also a leading figure in farm animal welfare and protection and serves as an adviser to the newly launched Malaysia Cage-Free Egg Producer’s Organisation.
The transition agreement underscores a strong partnership between local producers and international expertise, leveraging advanced technology and best practices for humane farming systems. Ladang Ternakan Prudence, with its established reputation in the egg production sector, will be a another key player in promoting cage-free practices, while Hellmann Poultry Equipment will provide the technical support necessary for a seamless transition to sustainable and humane poultry farming.
