Roadmap Execution Workshop Report :

Overview

The Short-Term Execution Roadmap Execution Workshop held at Cinta Manis Eco Resort was a pivotal event, focusing on the operational and strategic frameworks necessary for the progression towards sustainable, cage-free egg production in Malaysia. This workshop gathered key leaders and experts in the field to deliberate, refine, and finalize various critical components of the execution roadmap.

Objectives Addressed


  1. Development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP):
    - Discussions were held on establishing SOPs for cage-free egg production. Topics included the type of breeds most suitable for cage-free environments, barn designs conducive to welfare-centric practices, feed formulation, and necessary vaccinations and medications.
  2. Training and Capacity Building (Farmers Workshop):
    - Plans were made to conduct four training sessions in 2025, aimed at educating and equipping farmers with the skills and knowledge required to transition to and maintain cage-free farming operations.
  3. Exhibitions and Conventions:
    - The group agreed on organizing an exhibition/convention by the end of 2025 to promote cage-free practices and showcase advancements in this sector.
  4. Market Survey (MCFEPCoop):
    - The cooperative will undertake a market survey to assess consumer demand and market dynamics for cage-free eggs, which will help in strategizing marketing efforts.
  5. Standardization Proposals:
    - Proposals for cage-free standards will be developed and submitted, ensuring compliance and establishing a baseline for quality and ethical production.
  6. Funding (Model Farm Fund ):
    - Initiatives to secure funding for a model farm in Malaysia were discussed, which will serve as a benchmark and educational site for cage-free egg production techniques.

Conclusion

The workshop successfully addressed all planned topics, fostering a collaborative approach to tackling the challenges of cage-free egg production. The facilitators provided expert guidance that helped define a clear path forward for the initiative. With the defined SOPs and the planned training and market assessments, the leaders are well-prepared to guide their teams towards achieving the ultimate goal of sustainable cage-free egg production in Malaysia by 2028.

This workshop not only reinforced the commitment of the Malaysia Cage Free Egg Producer Organization and its cooperative to higher welfare farming practices but also highlighted the practical steps they are taking towards realizing their vision.
