A Bold Step Toward Sustainable and Humane Dining
Putrajaya, 5 August 2025 — Moxy Hotel Putrajaya, part of Marriott International’s vibrant and socially conscious brand, has officially taken a meaningful step toward responsible sourcing by implementing its cage-free egg commitment. The hotel proudly serves only cage-free eggs in its menus, beginning with breakfast favorites like soft-boiled eggs as visibly promoted through educational signage at its F&B outlet.
This move aligns with the global shift toward animal welfare and sustainability, reflecting Moxy’s dedication to ethical food sourcing that respects both animals and the expectations of environmentally conscious travelers.
“The transition to cage-free eggs is not just about better food; it’s about a better future,” said Dr. Saravanakumar S. Pillai, Senior Principal of Policy and Engagement for Farm Animal Welfare, Humane World for Animals, and Adviser to the Malaysia Cage-Free Egg Producer’s Organisation (MCFEPO). “Moxy Putrajaya is sending a powerful message — that hospitality can lead the way in championing better welfare production, sustainability, and responsible choices that resonate with global values.”
Cage-free eggs are laid by hens that are not confined to cages, enabling them to walk, spread their wings, nest, and engage in natural behaviors. This shift supports a more ethical and sustainable food system, in line with Malaysia’s growing food transparency and animal welfare expectations.
Marshall Chai, Manager of Moxy Hotel Putrajaya, expressed his pride in the initiative:
“We are proud to be part of this important movement. As a hospitality brand that celebrates boldness and care, adopting cage-free eggs is a natural step forward. Our guests deserve food that reflects their values fresh, better welfare, and forward-thinking.”
Moxy Putrajaya joins a growing list of international hospitality leaders including Mandarin Oriental, KLCC, Nando’s, Marriott, Accor, and others that have adopted cage-free sourcing across their operations. This implementation progress highlights Malaysia’s position as a leading country in Southeast Asia for cage-free transformation.
