Date : 20 January 2025

Kuala Lumpur, 20 January 2025 – Uncle Rani Chicken has achieved a remarkable milestone in ethical farming by obtaining the Certified Humane® certification from Humane Farm Animal Care (HFAC) for their free-range egg production. This recognition makes them one of only three cage-free egg producers in Malaysia to secure this prestigious certification, highlighting their leadership in sustainable and humane agriculture. They are also the second outdoor cage-free egg producer in Malaysia to receive the Certified Humane® certificate.

The HFAC certification signifies adherence to rigorous standards for animal welfare, ensuring that laying hens are raised in an environment conducive to their natural behaviors, including access to open spaces, fresh air, and proper nutrition. This milestone underscores Uncle Rani Chicken’s dedication to providing consumers with high-quality, ethically produced free-range eggs.

Rani Abdul Wahab, Founder and CEO of the brand 'Uncle Rani Chicken', expressed his pride in this achievement, stating:

“This certification reflects our unwavering commitment to animal welfare and sustainable farming practices. At Uncle Rani Chicken, we believe in respecting our animals, which in turn allows us to deliver healthier, higher-quality eggs to our customers. This milestone is not just a win for us but also for the industry, as it demonstrates that ethical farming is the way forward.”

Leong, Sales Director of Keris Aryan Marketing Sdn Bhd, emphasized the importance of this recognition for the company’s growth:

The brand 'Uncle Rani Chicken' which has been around for more than 20 years has always been driven by a shared passion for ethical and sustainable food production. This certification affirms our efforts and motivates us to continue delivering free-range eggs that meet the highest standards of quality and animal welfare. We are grateful to HFAC for recognizing our dedication and to our consumers for supporting this journey.”

Dr. Saravanakumar S. Pillai, Senior Adviser for Farm Animal Welfare, Policy and Engagement, Humane Society International (HSI), praised the achievement and its significance for Malaysia’s agriculture industry, stating:

“Uncle Rani Chicken have raised the bar for animal welfare in Malaysia. Free-range egg production is not just about ethical farming practices; it is about creating a food system that respects animals, aligns with consumer expectations, and addresses sustainability concerns. Their achievement demonstrates that humane and sustainable farming is both viable and essential in today’s world. We hope this success will inspire others to adopt similar standards and create a ripple effect across the industry.”

The Malaysian Cage-Free Egg Producers Organization (MCFEPO) also commended the achievement, with the spokesperson saying:

“Uncle Rani Chicken have set an example for the industry by demonstrating that humane and sustainable farming practices can be successfully implemented in Malaysia. Their leadership inspires other producers to prioritize animal welfare while reinforcing consumer trust in local free-range egg production.”

As the demand for ethically produced food continues to rise, the certification positions Uncle Rani Chicken at the forefront of Malaysia’s growing movement toward humane and sustainable agriculture. Free-range egg production not only benefits animal welfare but also provides healthier, superior-quality eggs for consumers and supports environmentally responsible farming practices.

This achievement signals a brighter future for Malaysia’s farming sector and a call to action for other producers to follow suit in embracing humane and sustainable methods.
